So there has been quite a few people discussing this on the Facebook Group and figured I'd stick it over on here even if it's just for the purpose of keeping the forum at the same pace (or as close too) as the group.
We have a couple of members who have expressed interest in building a T7 droid from the newest SWTOR (The Old Republic) game, the big online one. We got into a very nice discussion about how it would work. We mostly talked about the drive system since T7 has 2 from legs like R2's but the opposite way and he has a big wheel at the back, almost like a fatter D-0 which drives him. That seemed simple enough until I found a gameplay video of how he turned. The rear wheel is similar to a wheel barrow wheel with struts on both sides holding it in. In the game however, the rear wheel can also turn 90 degrees which steers it.
Obviously the people who designed this droid have no clue about any form of engineering and how almost impossible that is in real life! There were a couple of good suggestions including doing the steering in the front, hydrolics for the rear wheel, having the rear wheel as a false wheel and another wheel underneath it that does the driving and what not. Certainly gave for some great reading. Below is the link to the thread on the group for anyone wanting to read it.
I encourage people to continue this discussion and feel free to add it to the forum as well.

Thanks
